The Justice Department has charged 28 California green card holders with election crimes, and veteran homelessness is on track to hit a record low.

Federal prosecutors charged 28 lawful permanent residents in California with crimes including fraudulent voter registration and voting by a noncitizen. The sweep, called "Operation Protect the Vote," involved all four U.S. attorney's offices in the state, and 11 people were arrested Oct. 19. The charges follow a federal list of more than 20,000 likely noncitizen registrants that the government gave California on Oct. 13. The state declined to help set aside those voters' mail-in ballots, and the Justice Department sued. All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Veteran homelessness fell 8.2 percent in 2026, the largest drop in a decade, according to a new analysis of early data. That puts the count on track to fall below 30,000 for the first time since 2009. Victory News Tonight reports what both stories mean for your family, your vote and the nation, from a faith-filled perspective.
